This 5 Days Gorillas and Game Safari will take you to Queen Elizabeth National Park for game drives and a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, that connect Lake George and lake Edward in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda. This Channel has the highest concentration of Hippos in the whole world, with over 700 species of birds. On a ‘good’ day, a cruise along the Kazinga Channel can expose you to more wildlife than you can find on any given game drive. You will then visit the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you will have a chance to trek one of the habituated families of mountain gorillas

Day 1 – Pick up and Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Morning Transfer After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, your guide will make a stop at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe, where you will have an opportunity for photography, a brief informative talk, and simple equator experiments before continuing the journey.
Afternoon You will enjoy a lunch stop in Mbarara before proceeding through the breathtaking landscapes of southwestern Uganda. The drive offers beautiful views of banana plantations, local farms, and the rolling hills of the Kigezi region.
Evening & Accommodation Upon arrival at your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will be warmly welcomed by the staff and assisted with check-in. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying dinner before your overnight stay.

Day 2 – Gorilla Trekking Experience

Morning Briefing After an early breakfast, and with your packed lunch prepared, your guide will transfer you to the park headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for registration and a pre-trek briefing scheduled at approximately 7:45 a.m. During the briefing, park rangers will explain what to expect during the gorilla trekking experience, including important guidelines and safety measures to follow while observing the gorillas in their natural habitat.
Gorilla Trekking Experience Accompanied by experienced ranger guides, you will venture into the dense rainforest, navigating through thick vegetation and forest trails in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the movement and location of the gorilla family assigned to your group. The forest terrain can be steep and challenging, but the experience is incredibly rewarding. Spending time in the presence of these magnificent and endangered creatures is truly unforgettable and one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife encounters.
Evening & Accommodation After the trek, you will return to the park headquarters where you will receive a certificate in recognition of successfully completing the gorilla trekking experience. Your driver-guide will then transfer you back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and your overnight stay.

Day 3 – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Morning Transfer After breakfast, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most popular wildlife destinations located in the western region of the country. Along the journey, you will enjoy scenic views with several stopovers for photography as you pass through beautiful banana plantations, tea estates, and local countryside landscapes.
Afternoon You will arrive at the lodge in time for lunch at either Elephant Hab Lodge or Buffalo Safari Lodge. After lunch, you will check in and spend some time relaxing while enjoying the peaceful wilderness surroundings.
Evening Game Drive Later in the evening, you will head out for a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains within Queen Elizabeth National Park. This savannah area is well known for its rich wildlife and excellent game-viewing opportunities. During the drive, you may encounter large herds of buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, and other wildlife species. Predators such as lions and leopards may also be spotted depending on the day’s sightings and a bit of luck. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4 – Morning Game drive and afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel

Morning Game Drive This morning, you will return to the Kasenyi Plains in Queen Elizabeth National Park for another exciting game drive. This early morning safari gives you an opportunity to spot wildlife you may have missed during the previous drive, while also experiencing the beauty of the park as nature comes to life at sunrise. Early risers such as predators, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, and various bird species are commonly seen during this time of day.
Afternoon Boat Cruise After the morning game drive, you will return to the lodge for a hot lunch and some relaxation. Later in the afternoon, you will head to the jetty along the famous Kazinga Channel for a scenic boat cruise. The Kazinga Channel is renowned for its high concentration of wildlife and birdlife, offering excellent opportunities to observe hippos, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, and numerous species of water birds along the shoreline.
Evening & Accommodation Following the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge to spend the evening at leisure. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the peaceful wilderness of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5 – To Kampala/Entebbe or Airport

Morning Transfer After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, where your safari comes to an end. This scenic drive offers a final opportunity to enjoy Uganda’s beautiful countryside as you bid farewell to the wilderness.
Afternoon You will stop for lunch at Kayabwe before continuing your journey to Kampala or Entebbe. This is also a great moment to reflect on your safari experiences as you pass through rural landscapes and local communities along the way.
Evening Departure Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport or your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe, depending on your onward travel plans.
